Hurricane Season 2025 has ended.

After Storm - Checklist

  • Inspect for any damaged screens or bent cages.
  • Examine the roof for any damages, even minor ones, as they could lead to leaks.
  • Ensure that the gutters and soffits around the house are intact and in good condition.
  • Check vehicles for any damage or signs of water intrusion. Even if the exterior appears fine, saltwater may have entered. If the car seems unaffected, still take it to a car wash or rinse off any saltwater.
  • Verify if any circuit breakers have tripped. This is often indicated by a red marker or a breaker in the center position.
  • Look for any snapped power lines connecting the house to the street.
  • Confirm the pool timer is set correctly and adjust if necessary.
  • Ensure that pool equipment has not been submerged and check for debris inside the pool heater.
  • Test the air conditioning system to ensure it is cooling properly, as debris could have entered the condenser fan.
  • Reset the emergency release on the garage door if needed.
  • Verify that electric shutters are operating correctly both up and down.
  • Check that the internet is functioning properly; sometimes the modem, router, or switch may need a reboot.
  • Inspect for water damage around windows and baseboards, as high winds can force water through small cracks.
  • Look for water spots around the refrigerator, which may indicate melting ice cubes that could damage the floor.
