Why Outdoor Furniture Doesn't Survive a Florida Summer

Florida Weather During The Summer
Florida's beautiful weather is one of the reasons people love owning a home here, but the summer months can be surprisingly harsh on anything left outdoors.
Between strong UV exposure, extreme heat, daily rainstorms, and humidity levels that often exceed 80%, outdoor furniture takes a constant beating. Even high-quality pieces can quickly fade, crack, warp, rust, or become covered in mold and mildew.
Stains, Mold And Rust
Cushions and fabrics are especially vulnerable. Moisture trapped inside cushions creates the perfect environment for mold growth, unpleasant odors, and permanent staining. Wood furniture can swell and deteriorate, while metal components may corrode from constant exposure to moisture and salty coastal air.
The reality is that almost anything left outside during a Florida summer will experience accelerated wear and damage. Decorative items, outdoor rugs, cushions, umbrellas, artwork, and even some "weather-resistant" furniture are not immune. While it looks very pretty outside, we strongly advise against it.
What The Best Advice Is
The best protection is simple: store outdoor furnishings inside your home, garage or another climate-controlled space whenever possible. Taking a few preventative measures before leaving for the season can significantly extend the life of your furniture and help you avoid costly replacements.
At Homelax, we regularly see the effects of Florida's climate on properties. Proper storage and routine property checks are some of the easiest ways to protect your outdoor furnitures. We make sure to move everything inside after your departure, even if you forgot it or it's too heavy to carry.
Arrival Preparations After Summer
When you hire Homelax as your personal home manager, we prepare your home before every arrival so everything is exactly as it should be.
